Job Overview
Lead Veterinary Surgeon – Easipetcare Derby (soon to be rebranded as Dovedale House). Salary up to £75,000 with a welcome bonus of up to £5,000 and a relocation allowance of up to £5,000.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and inspire the clinical team, supporting vets and nurses to develop skills and confidence.
- Oversee complex cases, provide second opinions, and ensure the highest standards of patient care.
- Promote clinical excellence through audits, protocols and evidence‑based best practice.
- Maintain robust clinical governance, ensuring full compliance with RCVS guidance and IVC Evidensia standards.
- Work closely with the Director of Practice to support service development, implement improvements and contribute to continued growth.
- Create and nurture a positive, collaborative team culture that values learning, development and CPD.
Qualifications
- RCVS registered with a strong foundation in small animal medicine and surgery.
- Experience in clinical leadership and team management.
- Knowledge of RCVS guidance, IVC Evidensia standards and clinical governance.
Working Hours
This is a full‑time position of either 38 or 40 hours per week. Flexibility is offered: a four‑day week (38 hours) or a five‑day week (40 hours). The role includes one Saturday morning every three weeks (9:00 am–12:00 pm) with time off in lieu.
Team and Location
The current team includes a Practice Director, one Veterinary Surgeon, three Registered Veterinary Nurses, one Student Veterinary Nurse, one Veterinary Care Assistant and four Receptionists. The practice is located in Derby, close to local amenities and transport links, with dedicated car parking and easy access to the City Centre and Peak District National Park.
