Job Opportunity: Head of Finance
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a strategic and dynamic Head of Finance who is a qualified Accountant with solid post-qualification experience, excellent leadership skills, and the confidence to present to Board and Committee level.
As the Head of Finance, you will lead the Finance Team and play a key role in shaping the financial future of the organisation.
As a vital member of the Leadership Team, you will ensure the delivery of a proactive, compliant, and high-performing finance service that supports the business objectives and drives long-term financial sustainability.
DUTIES
Your duties as Head of Finance will include:
1. Lead the development and execution of robust financial strategies, overseeing all aspects of business planning, financial control, reporting, treasury management, and regulatory compliance.
2. Provide expert financial insight and analysis to inform major projects, new business initiatives, and investment decisions, while ensuring alignment with organisational goals and maintaining the company’s G1 status.
3. Manage financial risks effectively.
4. Develop the Value for Money strategy.
5. Oversee complex financial operations such as statutory accounting, payroll, procurement, taxation, and intercompany arrangements.
6. Lead treasury activities and long-term business planning to ensure financial viability and resilience.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
* Qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience.
* Deep understanding of financial strategy, treasury management, and financial control frameworks.
* Proven leadership of high-performing finance teams, including qualified professionals.
* Experience managing multi-million-pound budgets, capital investment programmes, and regulatory reporting.
* Ability to thrive in complex and regulated environments with integrity, professionalism, and strategic thinking.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills.
* Proficiency in spreadsheets and computerised ledgers.
* IT literacy, especially in Microsoft Office.
* Ability to produce and interpret financial reports, manage long-term planning, and provide insightful analysis.
* Manage risk, ensure compliance, and deliver value for money.
* Proactive, solutions-focused, and commercially aware.
* Confident in presenting to Board and committees, familiar with governance in regulated organisations.
* Lead by example, continuously improving processes, systems, and outcomes.
* Experience in the housing sector or similar not-for-profit/regulatory environments is preferred.
* Passion for delivering excellent service and positive impact.
A Standard DBS check will be required, in accordance with the organisation’s Anti-Money Laundering Policy.
