The role
We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Estimator to join a well-established main contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality projects across the commercial, residential, and education sectors. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing business with a strong pipeline of work, delivering projects typically ranging from £5m to £10m in value. Working closely with the senior estimating team, you will be involved in the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates from first principles, supporting the tendering process from initial enquiry through to submission.
Key responsibilities will include assisting with take-offs, preparing subcontract and supplier enquiries, analysing tender returns, and contributing to the build-up of competitive and robust tenders. You will gain exposure to a variety of schemes and play a key role in ensuring submissions are commercially sound and aligned with client requirements.
The ideal candidate will have some main contracting estimating experience, ideally gained with a main contractor delivering similar projects. A solid understanding of first principles estimating is essential, along with a relevant construction qualification. xsngvjr Strong numerical and analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach are key.
In return, the successful candidate will receive a salary of £25,000 - £43,000 (depending on experience), car allowance (dependent on level), pension, and holiday entitlement, alongside genuine opportunities for career progression within a highly regarded contractor known for its supportive culture and repeat client base.
