An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic band 8a clinical pharmacist to join our Women’s and Neonates Pharmacy team. You will be responsible for delivering a range of pharmacy services to the neonatal unit, maternity, and fertility services. This includes participating in or leading various quality and safety projects.
The Women’s Health services are mainly provided from the dedicated EGA Wing at University College Hospital (UCH). We operate a busy level three neonatal unit with close links to other UCLH specialist hospitals and Great Ormond Street Hospital. Currently, we care for 17 intensive care babies, 15 special care babies, and 13 transitional care babies. Our maternity unit handles approximately 6,700 births annually and features a co-located midwifery-led birth centre.
The clinical pharmacy team is well integrated into clinical practice, working closely with doctors, nurses, midwives, and ward staff to provide comprehensive pharmacy support for inpatients, mothers, and neonates.
We seek a proactive and dynamic individual eager to gain knowledge, skills, and experience while enhancing the pharmacy service in these areas. You will develop expertise in our comprehensive digital health record system, Epic, supporting system maintenance and optimization.
Daily, you will be part of a small team of pharmacists and a technician delivering clinical pharmacy services to the EGA Wing, including neonatal ward rounds, coordination of neonatal parenteral nutrition and CIVAS items, staff education, medicines management for maternity patients, and maintaining high service standards. You will also serve as a key liaison within the Women’s Health Division, maintaining and expanding current services. Additional responsibilities include governance, medicines expenditure analysis, cost improvement programs, service evaluation, multi-professional education and training, and strategic projects.
You will contribute to broader pharmacy initiatives, including educational programs like the Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice and our rotational program for band 7 pharmacists.
