The Rheumatology service is based in a modern dedicated unit based at Truro Health Park. This incorporates consultant offices, outpatient suites, offices for junior doctors and allied health professionals, as well as access to a meeting room and lecture facility. There is an onsite pharmacy.
A comprehensive Community Rheumatology service provides peripheral outpatient clinics throughout Cornwall (Bodmin, St Austell, Newquay, Camborne/Redruth, Penzance and the Isles of Scilly).
We also provide Clinical Nurse Specialist Clinics for patients requiring Biologic Therapies as well as Rheumatology follow up clinics. Biologics are administered in the Medical DayUnit within the Royal Cornwall Hospital and west Cornwall treatment Centre. Inpatients are reviewed at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.
Main duties of the job
Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of Rheumatology patients.
To share with colleagues responsibility for the day to day management of the Rheumatology department.
Teaching and training of junior staff and medical students where applicable.
To actively support the Rheumatology research programme
To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).
To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and Audit.
To attend meetings as appropriate.
Fulfill duties of weekly timetable.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice
* MRCP or equivalent
* CESR or European Community Rights
* Completed a minimum of 12years' medical work since obtaining a primary medical qualification, of which 6 years should have been in a relevant specialty
* Higher Degree eg MD, Phd or equivalent
Experience
* Teaching (Medical students, Postgraduates, MDT).
* Experienced in Clinical Audit and Clinical Governance and the benefits of how this improves the quality of care provided to patients and ensuring this is embedded in clinical practice.
* Active participation in Rheumatology research and a commitment to support the Rheumatology research Programme
