This is therefore a very exciting opportunity for a suitably enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Product Manager to play a key role within the Product Management function and participating in the next stage Defaqto’s journey through taking ownership of key elements of Defaqto’s product offering. The purpose of the role Owning the product strategy, planning, investment, delivery and performance for the flagship adviser-facing technology in Defaqto’s Advice and Distribution SaaS product portfolio, Engage. Over time, the role is likely expand to own the wider portfolio within Advice and Distribution. Maximising the overall performance of the product in terms of numbers of financial decisions influenced, revenue and product profitability, as well as identifying opportunities to extend or enhance the product and/or bring new products to market. Ownership of the end-to-end strategy to deliver a market-leading offering and maximisation of market penetration, being directly accountable and responsible for the former and through a matrix-managing a cross-functional team for the latter (in line with broader business priorities). What you will do: Market and Customer Intelligence: Be the expert about the product; market dynamics; competitors; our customers; actual and perceived value delivered to our customers; customer requirements and preferences; and end-user requirements and preferences. Product Vision, Strategy and Roadmap Prioritisation: Use commercial focus and understanding of the market, competitors, customers and end-users to set a vision and define and prioritise a roadmap to enhance and grow the product. Product Definition and Design: Use understanding of customer needs and industry best practice to provide a high-level definition of the required functionality for each item on the roadmap. Customer Centricity and User Experience: Champion best practice in terms of the end-to-end user experience at all times, from acquisition through training and onboarding to usage and upgrades. Pricing: Utilise understanding of actual and perceived product value, competitor pricing and pricing methodologies to define a revenue model and pricing roadmap to maximise the number of financial decisions influenced and the overall commercial value of the product to our customers. End-to-end Product Performance: Work alongside Marketing, Sales and Customer Success teams to identify the key benefits and value of products. Agree the budget, approach, priorities and targets in terms of promoting customer acquisition, expansion, account management, implementation, training, usage and support. Measurement & Improvement: Work alongside Finance to define a forecast and report upon the P&L for the product and the key underlying indicators to overall product performance. What you need to succeed: Qualifications/training Educated to degree level (or equivalent intellectual ability demonstrated through experience) Advantageous qualifications include CII/PFS/CISI/CFA) Knowledge The design, development and delivery of B2B software applications Appreciation and understanding (at both a theoretic and practical level) of high-quality user-centric product design Detailed knowledge of the marketing, sale, expansion, operation and support of digital products Advantageous to have working knowledge of the UK retail investment, financial services and advice markets Skills Market and competitor research Analytical and critical thinking Product strategy, roadmap definition and prioritisation Generation of financial forecasts and investment cases to govern the allocation of resources within the business Relationship building, networking and influencing Experience Responsibility for the development and growth of an outstanding financial services offering Working at a senior level in a product management for a large or medium-sized financial services business Experience of working closely with IFAs would be a real advantage The delivery of high-quality digital user experiences that have delighted end-users and performed ahead of the competition.
