About the Role
As a Social Care Worker, you will provide high-quality, professional social care services to children and families, working in line with legislative requirements and the Council's policies. You'll assess needs, provide direct support, and collaborate with other agencies to ensure children and families receive the best possible care.
This role offers
* Up to 37 hours per week with flexibility to meet service needs
* Opportunity to travel within and outside the Borough (Casual Car User Allowance provided)

What You'll Be Doing
* Assessing the needs of children and families and designing tailored care packages
* Providing direct advice, support, and counselling to enable families to stay together wherever possible
* Carrying and managing a caseload under the supervision of a Practice Manager
* Liaising with colleagues, statutory agencies, and community organisations to provide seamless support
* Maintaining accurate records, case notes, and reports
Note: This role will not involve leading Section 47 child protection investigations or being the named Social Worker in Care Proceedings cases, but you will contribute to these processes collaboratively.
What We're Looking For
* Experience working directly with vulnerable children and young people
* Understanding of social care needs and child development
* Strong communication, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills
* Ability to gather and assess information from multiple sources and plan work effectively
* Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office, email, and internet use
* Full driving licence (desirable, but essential for travel)
* Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and attend meetings offsite
