OBJECTIVE:
The Product Design Engineer will contribute to the successful development and delivery of innovative, high-quality automotive products by leveraging advanced design skills, cross-functional collaboration, and customer-focused engineering solutions. The Product Design Engineer will play a key role in transforming customer requirements into manufacturable designs while ensuring compliance with industry standards and performance expectations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Develop and modify product designs using advanced 2D/3D modeling techniques.
* Research the purchase of equipment and/or upgrades to existing equipment.
* Utilize CATIA () or similar CAD tools to create accurate and efficient designs.
* Collaborate closely with internal teams including engineering, manufacturing, and quality to meet customer specifications and ensure seamless product integration.
* Interpret and incorporate customer requirements into design revisions while maintaining adherence to engineering and quality standards.
* Communicate directly with OEM customers (e.g., Stellantis, GM, Ford, or others) to clarify design intent, gather requirements, and provide regular project updates.
* Apply core engineering principles such as Design for Manufacturing, material selection, and dimensional layouts to ensure robust and cost-effective designs.
* Support onsite validation, prototype testing, and release activities to verify product performance and compliance.
* Ensure all product designs meet safety, reliability, and functional performance standards.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The work environment is not temperature controlled and the employee may be exposed to high heat work conditions.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
TRAVEL:
* Semi frequent short distance, and infrequent long distant travel may be required.
* Travel and interaction between Meteor facilities may be required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related engineering field (highly ).
* 2–5 years of experience in product design engineering; automotive OEM experience strongly .
* Proficiency in 3D CAD software (CATIA ); strong experience in surface modeling is a plus.
* Solid understanding of engineering principles related to materials, manufacturing processes, and tolerance analysis.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and customer interactions.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Direct experience working for or with major automotive OEMs (Stellantis, GM, Ford, etc.) is .
* Involvement in cross-functional project teams with exposure to plant, quality, and engineering operations is .
FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITY:
* Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills including the ability to listen attentively and to communicate information clearly and effectively.
* Ability to always exercise good judgment and professionalism. Ability to coordinate and assist with day-to-day production functions.
* Experience and demonstrated skills/knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) ERP Systems, and accurate data entry.
