About the Team
The surgical therapies team works across a wide range of specialities including upper and lower gastrointestinal, vascular (including amputations), ENT, oral maxillofacial, plastics, urology, gynaecology, and specialised breast care. We cover 11 wards including a 14‑bedded Surgical Special Care Unit providing respiratory and rehabilitative post‑operative care.
The therapy services work within a 7‑day shift system; the post holder will be required to work weekends and bank holidays.
Role Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Therapy Technical Instructor to join the Therapies team at the University Hospital of North Midlands. As a senior therapy technician, the successful candidate will support band 3 therapy technicians, students, and apprenticeship staff. Support and training will be provided by the Advanced and Senior Therapists within the surgical team.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload through assessments and deliver rehabilitative care.
* Support and manage discharge planning and identify onward referrals throughout patients’ rehabilitative pathway.
* Work with Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and other technicians within a dynamic team.
* Develop specialised knowledge and skills in specific surgical areas (e.g., head and neck surgery, cognitive and functional assessments).
* Engage in service development and audits to improve patient experience.

The UHNM NHS Trust covers Royal Stoke Hospital in Stoke on Trent and County Hospital in Stafford.
