Length of employment: Job Summary: Senior Infrastructure Operations Engineers are responsible for leading the operations of secure and highly available computing platforms, servers, and networks. They lead, install, maintain, upgrade, and continuously improve DWP's operating environment and maintain the ongoing reliability, performance and support of the infrastructure. This includes • Monitoring the operating environments. • Responding to incidents and problems. • Planning for growth - by leading on infrastructure solutions based on application needs and anticipated growth. • Overall operation and maintenance of DWP digital infrastructure. • Deployment of new technologies as well as design, install, configure, maintain and perform testing of PC/server operating systems, networks, and related utilities and hardware. • Troubleshooting problems as reported by users. This role sits in the Technology Services area of DWP. Our teams ensure that 90,000 colleagues have the digital tools and applications they need to support our citizens. Job Description: As a Senior Infrastructure Operations Engineer you will; Administer, support and maintain solutions as directed and according to departmental policy. Lead and manage operational support of IT solutions and services. Lead and support third party provision of IT Operations services and provide expertise to programmes and projects, as well as the development of architectural solutions for technology. Lead Incident and Service Management with the resolution of critical major incidents/issues impacting live service and ensure all certificate renewals are completed on time. Analyse HR and Finance data to interrogate both the current data flows and the enhanced data requirements of the API Gateway and the Synergy Programme. This role is critical to ensure the prevention of security issues regarding the integration of HR and Finance data between systems and suppliers, including breaches in UK-GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. Salary Information New entrants to the Civil Service will join on band minimum. Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary. Technical statement (up to 250 words). The following statement is aligned to the required technical skill of Incident and Problem Management. An initial sift will be conducted using the technical statement. Candidates who pass the initial sift will be progressed to a full sift. Stage 2: Interview If you're successful at sift stage you will be invited to a video interview via Microsoft Teams. There, you will be assessed against all of the experiences listed above. Interviews will take place from Early to Mid-July. Sift and interview dates to be confirmed.
