Your New Role...
Join our dynamic Contribution Engineering team, where you’ll play a crucial role in designing and installing cutting-edge contribution technology across the EMEA region. Your mission? To build and maintain the platforms that deliver TNT Sports & Eurosport’s expanding portfolio of sports rights. This role requires strategic thinking, determination, and a passion for championing new technologies and workflows.
As a Broadcast Contribution Engineer, you’ll collaborate closely with production and sports technology teams, influencing technology choices and workflow designs for major events like the Grand Slam and Olympics. This hybrid role allows for up to three days a week in our Chiswick Park, London office, with travel to major events expected.
Your Role Accountabilities…
* Design and implement contribution compression systems for TNT Sports/Eurosport in the field and at WBD locations across EMEA.
* Liaise with Sports Technology, Production, and Operations teams to deliver future projects and services.
* Champion innovative contribution technology across the business.
* Manage third-party suppliers, ensuring clear requirements, adherence to SLAs, and risk mitigation.
* Stay updated on the latest technologies to enhance our broadcast capabilities.
* Provide expert technical support, troubleshooting and resolving issues promptly.
Qualifications & Experience...
* Degree-level education or relevant experience in a broadcast environment.
* Familiarity with current compression standards.
* Understanding of broadcast video signal chains and PCM, Dolby D/E audio workflows.
* Self-motivated with the ability to advance projects independently.
* Skilled in managing multiple workflows and prioritizing responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical information clearly.
* Willingness to travel for major events and adapt to the fast-paced nature of sports broadcasting.
Desirable Skills...
* Knowledge of JPEG 2000/XS, H264/HEVC, and NDI.
* Familiarity with SMPTE 2022-7, 2110, NMOS, and SDN.
* Understanding of UHD, HDR, and Dolby Atmos formats.
* Experience in remote production.
* Experience deploying systems in AWS and GCP.
* Experience with LTE contribution.
* Experience in internet contribution (e.g., SRT/RIST/ZIXI).
* Experience in MCR operations and engineering.
Hybrid Working...
This role offers a hybrid work model, combining remote and in-office work, in line with our company policy and your Line Manager's agreement. Please note that WBD reserves the right to adjust this working arrangement as necessary for business needs.
