About The Dementia Trust

The Dementia Trust is the UK's grant-making catalyst for dementia innovation. We fund bold ideas, empower changemakers and share learning to improve life for everyone affected by dementia.

Our strategy rests on three pillars:

* Enable – fund innovators to test and scale practical ideas that improve life for people affected by dementia.
* Empower – strengthen the people and partners who deliver change through convening (e.g. Fellows), mentoring, resources and support.
* Educate – share learning and evidence, tell stories, and influence practice so effective ideas spread.

Over the past year we've launched new programmes, partnered with organisations such as the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and grown our governance and communications teams. The Development Manager will help us take the next step – building sustainable income and partnerships that allow these initiatives to thrive long into the future.

About the Role

This is a pivotal new role, reporting to the Chair of Trustees, with responsibility for fundraising, partnerships, and events. You will be hands-on and creative, working closely with Trustees and our small but committed team to grow our income, visibility, and impact.

In your first year, you will:

* Secure £60k–£90k in new income from a diverse mix of trusts, foundations, corporates, membership and individuals.
* Submit 8+ funding applications, with at least one multi-year award.
* Launch our membership scheme and secure 50+ members (20% recurring donors).
* Recruit 2+ corporate sponsors (£5k+ each).
* Deliver 3+ major events, including our flagship Christmas Concert.
* Establish a Fellows group of 8–10 engaged members.
* Implement our donor CRM and produce monthly impact summaries for stakeholders.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety and autonomy, who can combine strategy with delivery, and who wants to see measurable results from their work.

What We're Looking For

Essential skills and experience:

* Proven fundraising track record (trusts, corporates, or major donors).
* Experience building partnerships with high-value donors and organisations.
* Strong written skills for bids, proposals and impact reporting.
* Event planning and delivery experience.
* Highly organised and comfortable managing multiple priorities.

Desirable skills and experience:

* Understanding of dementia or related health/social issues.
* Existing networks in the Scottish philanthropic/corporate community.
* CRM implementation or usage experience.

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are particularly keen to hear from candidates who bring lived experience of dementia or under-represented perspectives.
