Job Overview
We are seeking a Quality Engineer to join our team in Dalton, Thirsk (North Yorkshire). The role focuses on ensuring steelwork manufacturing processes meet rigorous quality standards and implementing continuous improvement initiatives aligned with lean manufacturing principles.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct inspections and audits across fabrication, welding, and painting processes.
* Review and verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
* Lead investigations into non‑conformances, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
* Liaise with client inspectors and internal teams to resolve quality issues efficiently.
* Maintain accurate records of inspections, non‑conformance reports (NCRs), and quality documentation.
* Participate in project start‑up meetings to ensure quality requirements are understood and implemented.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives across the shop floor.
Qualifications & Experience
* Hands‑on experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
* Proficiency in interpreting fabrication drawings and familiarity with welding standards.
* HNC in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
* Experience in a quality engineering role within steelwork manufacturing or related field.
* Solid understanding of ISO 9001 and relevant quality standards.
* Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
