Principal Marine Ecologist – Job Description
Are you passionate about Marine Ecology? Join our dynamic Nature team as Principal Marine Ecologist in locations across the UK and Ireland with a flexible hybrid working model. You will apply your skills, knowledge and expertise on national and international projects across high-profile power and infrastructure schemes, habitat restoration studies, flood defence schemes and coastal developments.
Responsibilities
* Be a Subject Matter Expert: provide technical marine ecological and marine consenting advice, deliver marine ecology impact assessments, support licence and permitting applications.
* Ensure Quality: produce deliverables to the highest quality standards and compliance with rigorous quality management procedures.
* Collaborate: work as part of a multidisciplinary team including underwater acoustics, coastal processes, water scientists and marine archaeologists, and EIA colleagues.
* Growth and business development: develop technical and fee proposals, marketing and business development, client liaison.
* Project Management: manage resources and budgets, report progress, procure and manage specialist subcontractors, and pursue PM training.
* Mentoring: develop and train marine ecology team members, create a supportive environment.
Qualifications
* Comprehensive marine ecological expertise with experience in marine consenting, licence regimes and impact assessments including EIA, HRA, MCZ, WFD.
* Detailed understanding of marine consenting and licensing regimes across the UK with experience liaison and submission to regulatory bodies.
* Ability to provide technical advice and advanced scientific practices for diverse marine projects.
* Team coordination experience, line management, mentorship of junior team members.
* Business development experience including tenders and client presentations.
