Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Mechatronic Maintenance Engineer to join our production and maintenance team at our modern MDF moulding facility.

Responsible for the day-to-day scheduled and unscheduled maintenance within the Donington production facility, to include factory buildings, machine maintenance and repair works to keep the production facility running safely effectively and efficiently.

This is a hands-on role that combines mechanical fitting, electrical maintenance, and automation control and an element of design and fabrication — ideal for a multi-skilled engineer who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Hours of work
Monday to Thursday 09:00 -18:00, Friday 06:00 - 15:00 (45 hours per week including breaks)

Flexibility to cover holidays or scheduled maintenance on other shift patterns will be required

On call rota required.

About The Role
Responsibilities of the Job

* To deliver continuous improvement in processes and machines and configure manufacturing systems to reduce costs, improve availability and deliver business excellence measures within the production processes.
* To carry out mechanical-electrical-pneumatic-hydraulic repairs to plant & machinery.
* To carry out fault finding & trouble shooting on plant & machinery including HMI programming as required.
* To support and maintain PLC-controlled systems and sensors for automated lines and conveyors.
* To maintain machinery in good working order as per maintenance schedule.
* To keep the production facility running effectively and efficiently through continual improvements.
* To assist in machine installations, commissioning, and upgrades to improve reliability and efficiency.
* To participate in continuous improvement and root cause analysis activities.
* To ensure the plant & machinery are available for maximum productivity.
* To maintain a safe, neat & tidy work area by following safety & housekeeping procedures.
* To Conduct routine inspections and ensure all plant and equipment meet H&S and PUWER requirements.
* To ensure daily operation of CHP & dust extraction plant are run efficiently.
* To record maintenance activities through the company's systems and keep technical documentation up to date.
* To co-operate with fellow workers and management.
* To carry out any other duties as required.

About The Candidate

* Need to be mechanically minded.
* The ability to use a variety of hand tools.
* Capable of MIG/Arc Weld/TIE.
* Proficiency in IT packages such as Microsoft.
* Have a high degree of initiative and safety awareness.
* The ability to prioritise workloads, respond quickly to emergencies and creative problem solving skills.
* You need to be able to demonstrate and lead by the company values.

Required Criteria

* Minimum of 1 year experience in a fast paced, high-volume environment working with electrical & mechanical machinery to include Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and repair skills across multiple disciplines.
* Working knowledge of managing maintenance workloads and working to strict deadlines
* Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing / 5S / TPM principles.
* ONC / OND Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or equivalent or time served electrical/mechanical Engineer (Mechatronics)

Desired Criteria

* Green belt in six sigma methodologies
* Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing / 5S / TPM principles.
* Knowledge of Biomass boiler plants
* Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
* Understanding of wood dust extraction systems and ATEX safety standards.
* Ability to use AutoCad
