Quantity Surveyor – Tunnelling & Civil Engineering

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a leading civil engineering contractor delivering major infrastructure works across London.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex heavy civils, shafts, tunnelling, and infrastructure projects across the UK.
The successful candidate will play a key role within the commercial team, taking responsibility for the financial and contractual management of projects from pre-construction through to final account.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle, ensuring commercial performance is effectively managed while supporting successful project delivery.
You will work closely with operational teams, clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, commercially, and in line with contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Preparation of internal commercial reporting and cost management documentation
Preparation of valuations and applications for payment with supporting documentation
Production of client cost reports and commercial updates
Management of subcontractor and supplier accounts from procurement through to final account
Preparation and management of subcontract and procurement schedules
Contract administration and change management
Identification and management of commercial risks and opportunities
Value engineering and cost control
Maintaining commercial registers and project records
Supporting the delivery team with contractual and commercial advice
Utilising internal costing and reporting systems
Requirements
Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within heavy civils, tunnelling, shafts, or infrastructure projects
Minimum of 5 years’ Quantity Surveying experience
Ideally 2+ years operating at Senior Quantity Surveyor level
Strong understanding of NEC and standard forms of contract
Commercially astute with strong negotiation and analytical skills
Experience managing subcontractor accounts and change management processes
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
