Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist – Fracture Liaison Service / Bone Health
This is a fixed‑term/secondment opportunity for 12 months to cover maternity leave. The Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) works with patients over 50 who sustain a fragility fracture to identify those with osteoporosis or at high risk of further fractures and place them on a personalised treatment pathway.
Responsibilities
* Identify patients sustaining fragility fractures and arrange comprehensive further investigations.
* Follow up on results and recommend an appropriate treatment pathway.
* Cover clinics and patient calls, provide results and manage written communication.
* Participate in local clinical audits and national collaboration for FLS.
* Provide specialist education and training for staff, patients and primary‑care colleagues.
* Lead workshops for newly diagnosed patients.
* Assess and implement treatment pathways independently.
* Visit wards, fracture clinics, day units and participate in Rheumatology clinics to assess patients within the best time‑frame.
* Maintain excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications & Experience
* Band 6 CNS qualification or equivalent clinical experience.
* Experience of autonomous working and history taking.
* Experience working in Trauma & Orthopaedics (T&O) or Rheumatology preferred.
* Passion for preventative health care and knowledge of osteoporosis.
* Experience with patient assessments and written communication desirable.
