To do this successfully in this job will require attendance at a Dstl location; Government Departments including wider MoD or Delivery and Mission Partner’s premises for a minimum of 60% of your working time. Where business needs allow, and with the agreement of your line manager, there may be the option for a combination of workplace and home-based working.This is a non-contractual arrangement.

TheFuture Combat Air System (FCAS)and theGlobal Combat Air Programme (GCAP)are at the forefront of international defence innovation. Dstl is seeking a highly capableComplex Electronic Hardware (CEH) Specialistto help deliver secure, high-performance electronic systems across the UK’s future air power infrastructure.

This role offers the chance to collaborate across government, industry, and international partners (Japan and Italy), supporting the delivery of a crewed fighter aircraft that will serve as the core of our future networked air capabilities.

In this role you will:

Person specification

We are looking for someone who has the following technical skills & experience:

Technical Skills

* In-depth knowledge ofComplex Electronic Hardwareacross its full lifecycle
* Strongprogramming skills(e.g., C/C++, Java, MATLAB, Go)
* Ability to critically assess and communicatemathematical and statistical fundamentals
* Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
* Demonstrated ability to produce clear, persuasive technical reports and verbal briefings
* Capability to break down complex problems into holistic, realistic solutions
* Desire to engage withcyber security and resiliencein relation to CEH
* Ability to work effectively within collaborative and cross-disciplinary teams

Experience

* Proven experience in theCEH domain, particularly in safety- and mission-critical environments
* Practical coding ability using languages such asPython, C++, or data-focused tools likeMATLAB or R
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, conflicting stakeholder demands
* Experience inmentoring or coachingjunior engineers or specialists

Important Information

Our work in defence, security and intelligence requires our employees to be UK Nationals who are able to gain a high level of security clearance to undertake the projects we are involved in to protect us from security threats. * Flexible working:Options include alternative working patterns such as; compressed hours (e.g. working a 4 day week/ 9 day fortnight), job shares and annualised hours (agreed number of hours per annum paid monthly i.e. working term-time only).

* Working hours:Flexibility around your working day (e.g. start time, finish time). Ability to bank hours in a 12 month reference period including the ability to accrue and use 3 days per calendar month.

* Where you work:Depending on your role, blended working may be available including remote working to suit you and your team. This can be discussed at interview.
