As a result of recent successes and the development of new projects and clients, Stantec is looking to speak with Principal Mechanical Engineers for future opportunities in our Energy & Resources team. These roles can be based in any of our UK offices, ideally reachable from the Midlands or Newcastle. Working as part of our Waste and Generation Team, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects including conventional EfW plants, district heating, gasification projects, hydrogen generation schemes, and biogas production projects. In this role, you will be involved in the entire project lifecycle, from optioneering through detailed design and installation. Your tasks will include feasibility studies, site surveys, and investigations. You will collaborate with clients, partners, and team members to develop designs and project-wide solutions across Stantec's Energy and Resources sector. As designers in the construction, energy, and waste sectors, we take our responsibilities for HSE matters seriously, fostering a culture of open scrutiny and continuous improvement. Stantec Energy Transition - UK About You You should have experience in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, ideally with experience in the energy/power sector or process plant sector, and be either chartered or working towards chartered status. Our team produces technical specifications across various technologies (e.g., steam, piping, hydrogen, biomass, EfW plants), as well as schedules and reports. We support collaborative design outputs such as General Arrangement Drawings, 3D models, and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams. You should understand these activities and be able to communicate technical updates effectively. Responsibilities also include creating specifications and scoping documents for construction packages and assessing vendor designs and progress. Experience in these areas is preferred.
