About the Role:
We are working with a well-established, multidisciplinary engineering group to find a Principal Civil Engineer for their UK power and renewables team. This is a key hire for a business unit that is seeing sustained growth across low-carbon and conventional power generation sectors.
You will lead civil engineering work packages across a range of project types, providing technical leadership from early-stage feasibility through to detailed design and construction support. The role offers variety, responsibility, and the chance to work alongside experienced professionals in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Take ownership of civil engineering design and delivery for power generation and infrastructure projects.
Produce and review designs, specifications, drawings, and technical reports.
Provide hands-on support during site investigations, inspections, and construction phases.
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
Identify and manage technical, safety, and commercial risks.
Contribute to bids, proposals, and client relationships.
Support and mentor less experienced engineers within the team.
Candidate Requirements:
We are looking for a chartered engineer with a strong technical background and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
Degree in Civil Engineering (2:1 or above).
Chartered status with a recognised UK body (e.g., ICE, IStructE).
Sound knowledge of relevant design standards and codes of practice.
Experience in foundation design, structural assessment, or similar is advantageous.
Familiarity with design software and collaborative working environments is helpful but not essential.
Previous experience in a consultancy or client-facing role is desirable.
