Job summary

The South Tees LD CAMHS team is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and confident professional to become a Clinical Nurse Specialist within our diverse and friendly team. The post covers both Middlesbrough and Redcar teams, requiring the successful candidate to travel independently.

The role involves offering clinical leadership, participating in service development, and coordinating assessment, treatment, and management of older patients. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will advise colleagues and other agencies on managing this client group.

We seek a motivated individual with a keen interest in improving care and treatment for older persons. We are proactive in developing new ways of working, considering the voices of service users and their families.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to recruit a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist within the South Tees LD CAMHS team.

The successful candidate will work autonomously in a fast-paced environment, providing clinical leadership alongside the Team Manager, supporting team members.

The post involves working collaboratively with internal and external partners to support individuals experiencing mental health deterioration and their families/carers. The team adopts a recovery-oriented, formulation-driven approach emphasizing shared decision-making.

Strong teamwork, networking, and partnership skills are essential. The candidate must demonstrate clinical leadership, coaching skills, knowledge of mental health care, risk assessment, safeguarding, and their practical application.

Qualifications (Essential):

* Current Professional Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council - RMN / RNLD/ RGN (RNSC - CAMHS only)
* Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor or in progress
* Training in Clinical Supervision or in the process of achieving
* Postgraduate diploma in a relevant subject or willing to work towards within 2 years
* Equivalent clinical experience to a postgraduate diploma/master's level, such as working as a band 6 or above with significant experience, plus CPD evidence

Experience (Essential):

* Significant experience with patients with complex needs in the field
* Experience working with risk behaviors
* Clinical risk assessment and management
* Collaborative work with service users, families, and carers
* Experience in multidisciplinary teams
* Participation in quality improvement activities

Knowledge (Essential):

* Knowledge of current health issues relevant to the practice area regionally and nationally
* Understanding of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act
* Safeguarding principles and application
* Clinical risk assessment and management
* Clinical governance
* Medicines management knowledge
* Psychological models of care and treatment
