Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about delivering outpatient Physiotherapy within Women’s Health and Urology.

We pride ourselves on integrated team working and strive for best clinical practice. The post holder will have the opportunity to enhance their specialist assessment and rehabilitation skills with support from our band 7 Advanced Physiotherapist and band 8a Outpatients Lead. We strongly encourage an evidenced based approach and support staff through supervision and appraisal. There is a strong emphasis on student education. Attendance at post graduate courses is also supported.

Main duties of the job

To provide a high standard physiotherapy service to the Women's Health Physiotherapy service, including within the sub-specialism of Physiotherapy for Pelvic Floor Dysfunction.

Performs an advanced musculoskeletal assessment of patients including those with highly complex presentations and from this formulates a diagnosis and treatment plan and carries out this plan as an autonomous practitioner.

Supervises, teaches and appraises recently qualified physiotherapists, physiotherapy students, support workers and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Undertakes evidence based projects including recommendations for change in practice and may participate in departmental audit.

Deputises for the physiotherapy team leaders in operational management.

Will have acquired specialist knowledge in specific area i.e. musculoskeletal outpatients and physiotherapy for pelvic floor dysfunction.

Education, Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria

1. Experience of at least 18 months in a junior rotational Physiotherapy post
2. Current registration with Health Professions Council

Desirable criteria

3. MCSP Membership
4. Membership of professional special interest group
5. Field work/clinical educators course
6. Specific formal courses appropriate to post speciality

Experience

Essential criteria

7. Experience of at least 18 months in a junior rotational Physiotherapy post
8. Previous experience in core physiotherapy specialties including acute in patient care, respiratory, Musculoskeletal and neurology
9. Experience of managing own caseload and prioritizing
10. Knowledge and application of evidence based practice and clinical reasoning

Special Circumstances

Essential criteria

11. Ability to participate in on call / emergency working rota
12. Flexible to meet the needs of the service

Desirable criteria

13. Full UK Driving Licence
