Purpose
A key management role in shaping the DB Reinsurance Operations area through structuring the services provided and ensuring delivery of DB reinsurance treaty provisions; supporting and engaging reinsurance providers and broader DB stakeholders to understand needs and future provisions; supporting the Head of DB Reinsurance Pricing and Operations with strategic development activities undertaken to ensure constant evolution of the DB Solutions area and our growth ambitions. An element of the role will focus continually on improving processes and delivering scalable solutions, including embracing new technology.
Key responsibilities
* Manage and lead the DB Reinsurance Operations team
* Responsible for delivery of regular reinsurance reporting, ensuring it is delivered in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with treaty timeframes
* Monitor compliance with contractual terms across all reinsurance arrangements
* Drive forward transformation and development work to build automated and scalable solutions for reinsurance reporting
* Collaborate with reinsurers on cashflow reconciliation activity
* Ensure reinsurance data is processed, assessed and collated for onward distribution both internally and to our reinsurance counterparties in accordance with contractual timeframes
* Provide operational inputs to new reinsurance contracts and maintain engagement with the DB Head of Reinsurance Relationships and Head of DB Reinsurance Pricing and Operations
* Drive continuous improvement in quality of data to all stakeholders, ensuring timely delivery and that records are accurately maintained to support audit requirements
* Act as subject matter expert on Reinsurance Operations, sharing knowledge with relevant teams in DB as necessary
* Establish and manage relationships with the relevant operations teams at reinsurance counterparties
What we’re looking for
* Deep knowledge of reinsurance concepts, particularly in relation to reinsurance of bulk annuity business
* Strong team manager
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Willingness to embrace change and new ways of working
* Good understanding of DB de‑risking administration requirements and how they differ from standard pensions administration
* Experience training individuals and groups of people
* Ability to manage workloads and prioritise a number of different tasks based on business volumes and priorities
* Clear focus on quality, service and results
* Flexible approach with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast‑moving environment
* Track record of working in the reinsurance and pensions industry sector
* Previous experience working for a DB pensions de‑risking company is beneficial
