We are seeking an Engineering Solutions Lead to join our Waste Network Operations Team. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead the engineering solutions team responsible for delivering both planned and reactive DMC programmes.
The ideal candidate is an ambitious Civil Engineer with experience in design and construction delivery, along with project and programme management skills including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control. Previous experience in engineering or operational roles is essential, with a passion for driving change and stakeholder collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage approximately £25 million CAPEX delivery annually.
2. Ensure H&S management and CDM practices within programmes.
3. Review project briefs and specifications.
4. Maintain technical standards and TW design standards.
5. Manage delivery supply chain with Contract Managers.
6. Provide civil engineering technical support to projects and operations.
7. Develop risk mitigation and solutions.
8. Lead and influence teams through visible leadership and networking.
9. Build resilience in civil engineering aspects of waste operations.
10. Own emergency network outage responses.
11. Improve processes in delivery and management of works.
12. Engage with internal stakeholders such as CD, Major Projects, and Developer Services.
Candidate Requirements
* Degree in Civil Engineering.
* IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
* Operational experience in waste networks preferred.
* Knowledge of contracts and commercial delivery.
* Experience with pipe replacement techniques (open-cut & trenchless).
* Experience managing design, delivery, and project handover.
* Understanding of CDM 2015 duties and H&S best practices.
* Ability to respond reactively to operational needs.
* Strong stakeholder management skills.
* Full UK driving license and personal transport.
