The Role;

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Job Coach to support learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in achieving meaningful work-based learning and employment outcomes. Working closely with students, employers, families, and staff, you will coach and guide young people with SEND to develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed for the workplace. This role involves job matching, employer engagement, on-site support, and promoting inclusive employment practices across a range of settings. This role will be predominantly in a catering environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide tailored coaching and support to learners with SEND in their work placements.

Collaborate with tutors, managers, employers, families, and external agencies to create a supportive work environment.

Assist learners in building essential skills, such as time management, customer service, and catering.

Conduct health and safety checks and create risk assessments for work placements.

Develop and adapt employability plans to meet individual needs, promoting growth and independence.

Support learners in overcoming barriers to employment and ensure their well-being at all times

Our Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and experience.

D Experience supporting young people with SEND in work settings.

E -Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

E -Commitment to creating inclusive work opportunities for people with SEND.

D -Relevant teaching or coaching qualifications (e.g., Level 4 CET or equivalent).

Experience in the hospitality industry is desirable.

You may be based at one of 2 locations Newham library or New Beans café Newham college.

Safeguarding of Children and Vulnerable Adults

In line with Keeping Children Safe in Education All employment offers are subject employment checks. These include (some of which are dependent on the role and the individual): Enhanced DBS including Children’s Barred List check, DfE

teaching/management Barred List check, on-line searches, overseas criminal record check, evidence of identity and Right to Work in the UK, satisfactory references, confirmation of medical fitness, evidence of relevant qualifications and a check of previous employment history.

You will be required to become familiar with the College's policies, and comply with the requirements to safeguard and protect the welfare of children and young people and vulnerable adults. All staff are asked to complete mandatory training in relation to KCSIE and other key areas, and to read the relevant policies.

The salary for this position is inclusive of London weighting. Please note that it is Newham College’s policy to offer all roles at the entry point of the salary scale advertised. However, based on your qualifications and experience, we may offer a higher starting salary within the specified salary range.
