The Senior Project Engineering Manager is accountable for the delivery of the HVDC Product Delivery Group (PDG) scope of work for a project in strict accordance with the cost, time and technical requirements of that project and in-line with any operational processes that the project may utilise as part of its execution. This shall be achieved through the efficient management of the PDG resources allocated to the project and by the application of the processes coming from the relevant PDG functions, whilst always working in close collaboration with the PDG functional leaders towards the common objective of successful project delivery.

This person is accountable for overall HVDC PDG engineering activities, manages engineering budget, defines the quality plan, implements change management process, supervises and leads all HVDC PDG engineering activities required to execute the project, whether in-house or by suppliers or subcontractors.


Roles and Responsibilities

* Manage and deliver the HVDC PDG scope of work for a project focusing on the close adherence to the global time schedule of HVDC PDG engineering scope, ensuring the coherency of links between engineering activities and other project functions activities (procurement, construction, commissioning) and anticipate and mitigate project delivery issues of concerned activities.
* Carry out regular and thorough reviews of the progress and delivery of the PDG scope of work, assessing all aspects of the project, including time, cost, quality, and risks.
* Prepare and deliver a comprehensive project report as part of the governance of the PDG and as part of the reporting process for the overall project. This shall be done at least monthly.
* Ensure that the provided resources are used efficiently and working in accordance with the established processes via rigorous and open collaboration with the PDG functions.
* Plan and manage technical interfaces, put in place exchange interface sheets with partners, customers and third‑party contractors.
* Accountable for project delivery Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as on‑time delivery and budget for the PDG scope, including suitable quality of partner documents.
* Provide leadership and support the solution engineer to ensure the reference solution and the agreed gaps are delivered in accordance with the project technical specifications and rigorously enforce the change process and policy on any deviations.
* Lead and direct the project team to deliver the PDG engineering scope according to the Design Objectives Request (DOR) and manage day‑to‑day activities in conjunction with the project team.
* Motivate and empower the project engineering team, provide insight and rewards, and offer feedback on team performance to their respective functional managers during performance reviews.
* Assess risks, including risk mitigation plans, and keep the risk register up to date.
* Conduct project risk review meetings and update the risk register with mitigation plans when required.
* Request or attend customer technical meetings when needed or upon request.
* Check the effectiveness of design against the delivery of contract requirements within the project budget and look for global cost optimisation in all design phases, mainly during basic design.
* Integrate EHS requirements based on the project strategy and deploy HAZID (Hazard Identification) sessions at different project phases. Actively participate in defining corrective actions when work is unsafe or when an uncontrolled risk is observed.
* Apply the design subcontracting process and support Sourcing and Procurement in defining the supplier list, in the equipment ITO and FAT procedure review, and during the post‑order stage according to the project strategy.
* Support site organisation during site preparation and throughout construction and commissioning stages, when required.
* Organise input data acquisition for O&M & as‑built.
* Organise engineering project team R.O.E. according to unit processes.
* Comply with quality procedures, work instructions and processes defined at the unit, project level, and in EMH, and report or resolve any non‑conformances in a timely manner.


Desired Profile and Experience

* Engineering degree level or equivalent education in Electrical Engineering.
* Extensive and demonstrated experience in a position of Project Engineering Manager, managing mid‑sized projects across several project contexts (technology, scope, contract environment) in an EPC‑type environment in T&D, Power Generation or Oil & Gas industry.
* Fluent in English with demonstrated presentation skills and the ability to succinctly communicate complex messages.
* Ability to manage cross‑functional teams and diverse portfolios.
* Ability to travel 20% of the time, domestically and internationally.
* Experience with cross‑functional communication and complex problem solving.
* Ability to influence and drive strong decision‑making, teamwork, and strategic planning.
