Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation for Disabled People (QEF) is a Surrey-based charity transforming the lives of over 10,000 disabled children and adults every year. Whether it’s rehabilitation after a brain injury, improving mobility, or learning new skills for independence, QEF enables people with disabilities to achieve their goals and live life on their terms.
Our services include:
1. Mobility Services – endorsed by the Department for Transport and one of the UK’s top 3 providers.
2. Care and Rehabilitation Centre – located in Leatherhead.
3. QEF Retail Trading – 14 charity shops across the region.
4. A family of smaller, specialist charities including MERU (assistive products for children) and The Grange (Kent), a residential care home for adults with learning disabilities.
THE ROLE
We’re looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join our friendly, multi-disciplinary Clinical Team. This is a rewarding and varied role that involves providing specialised mobility assessments for clients of all ages and abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
5. Deliver independent assessments and trials of wheelchairs, scooters, and other mobility equipment.
6. Conduct seating and posture assessments to improve comfort, pressure care, and functional mobility.
7. Advise on safe vehicle transfers, manual handling, and travel needs (including air travel via our Tryb4uFly service).
8. Liaise with external agencies to secure appropriate equipment and adaptations.
9. Provide expert guidance to clients, families, professionals, and partner organisations.
10. Deliver and support internal/external training sessions and supervise students on placement.
The role has a fixed salary and is not linked to the Agenda for Change. Its based in Carshalton and its not remote.
ABOUT YOU
11. Qualified Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist, registered with HCPC.
12. Experience in wheelchair services, posture and seating, and/or mobility assessments.
13. A person-centred approach and strong clinical reasoning skills.
14. Comfortable working both independently and within a team.
15. Willingness to travel for off-site assessments.
