Overview
Personal Assistant required for a happy, lively and energetic 9-year-old boy who lives in the Bodmin area. He is autistic with limited verbal communication and would like someone who he can build up a positive relationship with and provide him with some 1:1 support. He would like someone to support him with his communication and social skills out in the community. He loves being outdoors. His interests include swimming, parks, Lego/construction toys, puzzles and wordsearches.
Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 support to the child to develop communication and social skills in community settings.
* Help him participate in activities in his local community to gain independence away from his family.
* Build a positive relationship with the child and support his wellbeing and safety during outings.
Candidate requirements
* Some knowledge or personal experience of working with young people with special educational needs is essential.
* Car driver preferred.
* Willingness to be employed under a private arrangement with the family (not employed by Cornwall Council).
Terms and safeguarding
* Good rate of pay at £12.60 per hour.
* 6.75 hours per week are available, though this is very flexible.
* All offers of employment will be subject to an enhanced DBS check; the administration process will be undertaken by Cornwall Council.
