Head of Governance and Reporting

Fixed term contract / secondment opportunity from 20/4/2026 until 19/4/2027

Closing Date - 11/3/2026

Interviews will be held week commencing 23/3/2026

A bit about the role...

Working in a team with Sally Roberts, Assistant Director – Business Planning and Strategic Management ('BPSM') and BPSM colleagues in the Cladding Safety Scheme ('CSS') team, the Head of Governance and Reporting will be responsible for key business functions which provide governance oversight and assurance to ensure the CSS programme is running effectively and in line with defined building remediation policy. You will be joining our small but enthusiastic and highly skilled team of 8 people, who are committed to making positive change in how we carry out audit and assurance processes, establish and maintain a governance framework and play an essential role in managing risks across the programme, whilst working closely with reporting colleagues.

The Cladding Safety Scheme team believes in delivering a first-class customer service to all stakeholders within and outside the CSS team. We believe in working in a collaborative way and value diversity in experience and perspective to foster good decision making and problem solving within their team.

This is an opportunity to contribute to the Cladding Safety Scheme team in a fast growing, national organisation with real social purpose. Working with key stakeholders and a professional team of three direct reports you will ensure efficient, consistent and effective delivery of governance and assurance oversight requirements and have the opportunity to help strengthen and maintain a strong risk management activity.

There are some exciting and rewarding projects to get involved in and this is an excellent opportunity to balance day to day delivery whilst bringing innovative solutions to the key business functions offering governance oversight and assurance.

A bit about you…

Whilst our day job is to deliver first class customer service to our stakeholders on governance, assurance and risk management requirements for the Cladding Safety Scheme, you will be used to "spinning several plates" at once and will always be looking for ways to improve and innovate.

You are happy working in a role where the tasks vary and where pace is critical to our success. You'll be comfortable supporting other teams within the Cladding Safety Scheme if needed, and be happy to work independently as well as a member of our team.

Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn't always easy. You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at a senior level and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do as team focused on governance requirements, embedding assurance processes and maintaining strong risk management processes. You will enjoy working in an innovative, fun and engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade.

As an experienced Governance, Risk, Assurance & Audit professional you'll understand how to manage colleagues and be able to demonstrate you can work with others as part of a team in a collaborative, inclusive way.

Who are we?

Homes England : The Housing and Regeneration Agency

As the government's housing and regeneration agency, we create thriving new places and transform urban areas, combining the full breadth of our powers, expertise, land, capital and influence to bring investment to communities and get more homes built.

How? We form long-term partnerships that bridge the gap between the public and private sector to meet local needs and aspirations. We use our influence to champion the creation of sustainable homes, communities and places that are brilliantly designed for the people that live there now, and in the future. And we use our funding and support to build a more resilient, diverse and innovative housing sector, helping new entrants in the market, encouraging modern methods of construction and design, and promoting the utmost attention to building safety.

Together with our partners, we're accelerating the pace of house building, remediation and regeneration across the country, as we seek to deliver ever more affordable homes in places people are proud to call home for generations to come.
