Juno Genetics Ltd is a company specialising in genetic diagnostics with a particular emphasis on reproductive medicine, including prenatal diagnosis and the analysis of embryos produced during IVF treatments. Over the last two years, Juno has grown to be one of the world’s largest providers of preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) services, which involves the examination of DNA and chromosomes in small numbers of cells biopsied from preimplantation embryos. Juno’s success has been the result of a combination of innovative technologies, high levels of quality assurance and a commitment to providing patients and fertility clinics with the best possible support. Juno is led by a renowned team of scientists and has an international reputation for novel research and development in the field of PGT.

The successful applicant will become a member of the clinical laboratory and will work in different teams depending on the requirements of the laboratory. Clinical teams include preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidies and structural rearrangements (PGT-A & PGT-SR), and preimplantation genetic testing for monogenic disorders (PGT-M). The successful applicant will receive all necessary training in a variety of molecular biology and cytogenetic techniques. Their role will involve carrying out tests, ensuring that laboratory processes are performed accurately and efficiently, and that results are generated and reported in a timely manner.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate a strong background in genetics as well as practical experience with a range of laboratory techniques. Although part of a team, the applicant should also have the capacity to work independently.

Main duties and responsibilities:

* Participate in all areas of wet laboratory work, with careful reference to standard operating procedures and participating in their regular review and update.
* Undertake specimen preparation and analysis for a range of sample types.
* Perform sample reception and provide clinics with logistic support with sample shipments when needed.
* Operate and maintain analytical equipment in the laboratory.
* Evaluate and monitor the accuracy and precision of laboratory investigations using appropriate quality control procedures.
* Replace stocks of consumables and reagents when required and inform the Section Leader if back-up stocks are low.
* Interpret clinical information and use scientific knowledge to process specimens for appropriate tests, seeking advice from senior staff when necessary.
* Review, prepare and send reports that have been authorised.
* Communicate with clinics with courtesy and professionalism.

Essential skills, qualifications and experience:

* BSc or MSc in Biology/Genetics/Molecular Biology or a related subject, together with relevant experience
* Theoretical and practical knowledge in the discipline of genetics relevant to role
* Practical experience with one or more of the key technologies such as DNA amplification techniques (e.g. PCR and/or whole genome amplification); mutation analysis; next generation sequencing etc
* Good organisational and time management skills
* Work carefully, neatly and efficiently. Attention to detail and rigorous and accurate record keeping is vitally important
* The ability to work as part of a team, but also independently
* An appreciation of the importance of maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
* The ability to communicate efficiently, accurately and courteously with other members of the laboratory team and with external medical professionals - both verbally and in writing
* Use of laboratory equipment relevant to the specialty

Other desirable experience/skills:

* Demonstrable experience of working to a laboratory Quality Management System.
* Previous experience in a relevant laboratory, and proficiency in techniques appropriate to the discipline
* Experience and understanding of reproductive genetics

What do we offer?

* Full time position – 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday inclusive.
