Role: Faculty Lead – Science, Maths and Business (Maternity Cover)

Location: The Corby Sixth Form

Salary/Benefits: Salary is up to £48,925 per annum DOE and Qualifications, Teacher’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week

Contract Type: Fixed Term – Full Time – Fixed until 31 December 2026

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Faculty Lead in Science, Maths and Business to join our Sixth Forms department at The Bedford College Group as Maternity Cover.

As a Faculty Lead, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

1. Strategic Leadership & Faculty Management – Leads the faculty within The Corby Sixth Form, managing staff, overseeing curriculum planning, and contributing to the wider strategic direction of the college.
2. Quality & Performance Improvement – Drives continuous improvement in teaching, learning, and assessment through data analysis, staff development, and rigorous quality assurance to enhance student outcomes.
3. Curriculum & Student Experience – Ensures curriculum relevance to learners, universities, and employers, while promoting enrichment activities and maintaining a student-centred approach across all programmes.
4. Operational Oversight & Staff Development – Manages day-to-day operations including recruitment, appraisals, succession planning, and wellbeing support, ensuring effective communication and staff utilisation.
5. Teaching & College Engagement – Delivers high-quality teaching in Biology and Applied Science, supports extracurricular activities, and actively participates in college-wide responsibilities including open days, exams, and ID checks.

About you:

6. Qualifications & Teaching Expertise – Holds a degree and teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent), with recent professional development and experience delivering outstanding outcomes on A Level programmes.
7. Leadership & Improvement – Proven success in leading A Level provision, implementing improvement strategies, raising achievement and retention, and understanding sixth form accountability measures.
8. Skills & Competencies – Strong communication, organisation, data analysis, and project management skills, with the ability to lead, influence, and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
9. Values & Professionalism – Demonstrates high standards, integrity, and commitment to education values, safeguarding, EDI, and continuous professional development, while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
10. Flexibility & Collaboration – Adapts to change, works effectively both independently and in teams, builds strong relationships, and is willing to travel and adjust working hours to meet business needs.

About The Corby Sixth Form

The Corby Sixth Form offers a wide range of subjects and courses, including A-level subjects like maths, English Literature, sciences, humanities, and languages, as well as Diploma courses in areas like business, health & social care, and more.
