About The Role
We are looking for a Senior Regulatory Data Specialist to play a critical role in protecting one of our most precious resources—water. The successful candidate will be at the forefront of sustainable water resource management, ensuring that abstraction activities across the region are compliant and responsibly managed in line with our commitment to enhancing the natural environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead abstraction licence compliance monitoring, including daily checks and investigations.
* Ensure accuracy and integrity of all abstraction licence and monitoring datasets.
* Produce high‑quality regulatory submissions, such as abstraction returns and self‑reporting.
* Become the go‑to technical expert on abstraction licensing and compliance, working closely with operational teams, analysts, and the regulator.
* Manage abstraction licence applications, renewals, variations, transfers, and revocations.
* Oversee abstraction licence financials, including annual fees, charges, and derogation payments.
* Support enhanced modelling and analysis for high‑risk (“hot”) licence reviews.
* Maintain accurate corporate records of all licence conditions and changes.
* Collaborate with external bodies, including the Environment Agency and technical consultants.
Required Skills and Experience
* Strong experience working with large datasets, data analysis, and reporting.
* Confidence interpreting regulatory, legal, and licence documentation.
* Experience managing regulatory submissions and compliance processes (support will be provided for those developing abstraction licensing expertise).
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
* Experience owning large and complex financial processes and budget oversight.
* Experience using telemetry systems (desirable).
* Experience in water resource management or environmental assessment (desirable).
