It is crucial to ensure that all waste streams are properly segregated, handled, stored, and disposed of in accordance with site and collection contractor requirements. Planning the route for waste removal and identifying potential areas for improvement to enhance performance are key responsibilities. Compliance with Health and Safety procedures when moving waste around the site is essential. Main Duties: The job requires competence in using necessary equipment, with training provided. Regular removal of waste from allocated wasteholds and maintaining vigilance to prevent waste buildup are important tasks. Ensuring all wheelie bin lids are closed and locked before transportation, correctly segregating clinical waste, and engaging safety devices on yellow wheelie bins are critical. Keeping the waste compound and allocated waste holds clean and tidy, reporting any issues, and washing bins monthly are part of the duties. Reporting equipment faults, maintaining equipment logs, wearing PPE, keeping pedestrian walkways clear, and following training protocols are mandatory. Additionally, fulfilling ad hoc requests, carrying ID, participating in training, being familiar with emergency procedures, and complying with management requests are required. What We Are Looking For: The ideal candidate should understand waste procedures, possess good communication and interpersonal skills, and demonstrate good housekeeping abilities. Flexibility with shifts, the ability to work well under pressure, and the capability to operate machinery are essential. Physical fitness and compliance with DBS requirements are also necessary.
