Overview
Be among the first 25 applicants. We’re looking for an Environmental Practitioner Level 6 Apprentice to support our integrated environmental planning team. This role focuses on improving the water environment and managing water resources, producing environmental evidence to inform local priorities and investment. You will work with a wide range of environmental data to understand problems and where actions are needed. This is a varied role with exposure to both water resource and water quality management.
We are committed to diversity and inclusion and aim to create a workplace where people are respected, valued and listened to. We emphasise Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) and strive to be an equal opportunity employer where we all grow together. We champion diversity to reflect the communities we serve.
Responsibilities and team
You will join a friendly team of water quality and water resources planners, reporting to the Integrated Environment Planning Team Leader. The team provides on‑the‑job training and you will have a dedicated Talent Coach for formal learning as part of a broader apprentice community. The apprenticeship combines workshops, digital learning and one‑to‑one coaching. Responding to incidents is a central part of our work; you will be asked to have an incident role and to be available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training will be provided for the incident role.
The base location for this role is Bridgwater or Blandford, with flexible working patterns encouraged. Some travel to attend internal meetings and site visits is anticipated.
