Overview
The Lung Cancer Screening (LCS) Programme aims to facilitate early detection of lung cancer. The role of Patient Contact Assessor (PCA) involves outreach, telephone screening, risk assessment, referral for Low Dose CT, and providing Very Brief Advice (VBT) to smokers.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct proactive telephone screening to assess lung cancer risk following national protocols.
* Book appointments for eligible patients at local mobile scanning clinics.
* Provide compassionate and professional communication, addressing patient concerns and offering support.
* Manage appointments, monitor DNA (Did Not Attend) and implement rebooking processes.
* Collaborate with Lung Cancer Screening Specialist Nurses, ensuring patients are prepared and escalating high‑risk cases during consultations.
* Support patients from diverse backgrounds, utilising interpreter services where required.
* Accurately record encounters on EPR and referrals for secondary care.
* Respond to telephone queries, monitor the generic email inbox, and maintain data protection compliance.
* Provide Very Brief Advice (VBT) to current smokers.
* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
Working Hours and Travel
* Monday – Friday: 08:00 – 20:00
* Saturday: 09:00 – 13:00
* Service operates six days a week and may require travel to CT scanner sites and other hospital locations; vehicle access may be needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Full UK driving licence; international licence not accepted.
* Sponsorship is not eligible for this post.
