This is an opportunity to join an established friendly team of GPs, Nurses, and Healthcare Assistants.

The role will provide a specialist resource as an advanced paramedic practitioner for our patients, working with clinicians, nursing team, and in collaboration with other members of the practice multidisciplinary teams. We have two sites in Bexhill, one in Sidley and the other in Albert Road, Bexhill Town Centre.

As part of the team, you will work within our practice community as an autonomous, accountable paramedic practitioner providing holistic care while assessing, diagnosing, and providing treatment to patients using competent and up-to-date clinical skills.

We promote self-care and educate service users to empower them to make informed treatment choices.

The successful candidate must hold a full driving licence with suitable insurance and access to a suitable vehicle. Mileage is claimed back at the standard BMA Committee Rate, currently set at 45 pence per mile.


Main duties of the job

Minor illness assessment, diagnosis, and treatment with access to seek advice, review, and onward referral within clinical teams at Sidley Medical Practice. Providing care to patients on domicile visits and developing skills within triage and telephone consultations.

Patients requiring care and onward referral to secondary care will be discussed with available GPs, and this process will be reviewed ongoing with the Partners.

Develop care plans for patients when required and be involved with the continuity of care, such as in end-of-life care and chronic disease management, as developed and supervised with the Partners.

Prescribe/issue medications with suitable prescribing training and supervision within patient group directives. This includes developing patient-specific instructions such as vaccinations, nebulised medications, oxygen administration, and intravenous/muscular medications in emergencies.

Assess, diagnose, treat, refer, or direct patients attending surgery or requesting domicile visits relating to minor conditions, injuries, or acute illnesses.

Undertake wound management within competencies and available resources & the collection of pathological specimens, including intravenous blood sampling, point-of-care testing, and swab collection.


About us

At Sidley Medical Practice, we have a well-established team of clinicians providing excellent care to our patients. We aim to enhance the team further with a paramedic practitioner working alongside GPs.

We are part of the Bexhill PCN and are developing processes to provide enhanced support to patients in the community and create additional clinical pathways for referral, treatment, and support.

Our staff have a strong work ethic and always seek to do the best for patients. Our Paramedic Practitioner will be an excellent addition, providing flexibility in delivering the right care at the right time by the most appropriate clinician.

We currently have a team including GPs, practice nurses, a treatment room nurse, an associate practitioner, HCAs, and a phlebotomist, serving over 14,000 registered patients.

There is also a senior management team including the Practice Manager, Operations Manager, HR Manager, Rota and QOF Manager, and Assistant Finance Manager.

HOURS: Full-time: 36 hours per week

LOCATION: Sidley Medical Practice [Primary site], Albert Road Surgery [Branch Site]

Job Summary:

The role provides a specialist resource as an advanced paramedic practitioner, working with clinicians, nursing team, and other practice team members.

To work within our community as an autonomous, accountable practitioner, providing holistic care, assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients.

To utilize current, competent clinical skills.

To assess, diagnose, treat, refer, or direct to other services for patients attending surgery or requesting domicile visits for minor conditions, injuries, or illnesses.

To promote self-care and educate service users to empower informed treatment decisions.

The post holder must have a full driving licence, suitable insurance, and access to a vehicle. Mileage will be claimed at the BMA rate, upon submission of expense forms.

Job Responsibilities include assessment and treatment of minor illnesses, developing care plans, ongoing professional development, and ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with practice policies.

To maintain registration with the HCPC, undertake wound management, collect pathological specimens, and participate in educational activities and audits.

Additional responsibilities include collaboration with staff, ensuring indemnity coverage, and adhering to confidentiality, equality, and safety policies.

Qualifications required include at least 1 year as a Paramedic Practitioner, HCPC registration, and verification against the paramedic primary care roadmap.

Experience in primary care or GP practice is preferred. The role is subject to a DBS check.
