Create and deliver high-quality internal communications that engage Network Rail employees, support business goals, and align with the organisations internal communications strategy.
About The Role (External)
About the team..
The internal communications team is a collaborative, creative group focused on keeping colleagues informed, engaged, and connected. They work closely with stakeholders across the business to deliver clear, consistent messages, share best practice, and continuously improve how Network Rail communicates with its people.
What does the average day look like?
In an average day at Network Rail, work focuses on creating and delivering internal communications that keep colleagues informed, engaged, and connected to business priorities. Tasks might include planning and producing content for campaigns, articles, videos, or intranet updates, tailored to the needs of different audiences.
Time is also spent collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure messages are consistent, monitoring engagement and feedback from internal channels, and using insights to improve communications. Project management skills come into play when coordinating multiple communications activities to deadlines, budgets, and agreed outcomes.
The role combines creativity, analysis, and collaboration, with opportunities to influence how colleagues experience and interact with important news, updates, and initiatives across the organisation.
Who are we looking for?
Were looking for a creative and organised communications professional who enjoys delivering clear, engaging internal communications that support business priorities. The role involves planning and delivering communications to deadline, creating campaigns and content (including video) that resonate with different audiences, and using insight and data to drive engagement.
Working collaboratively with communications colleagues and internal stakeholders, the role supports the development of standards, guidance, and best practice, while ensuring messages are consistent and joined up across channels. There is also a strong focus on monitoring internal platforms and two-way channels, using feedback and analytics to continuously improve communications.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience shaping messages for a range of audiences, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to produce high-quality content at pace. Experience in internal communications, multi-channel content creation, and an interest in using AI to enhance communications would be an advantage.
Essential Criteria
Education to degree level or equivalent qualification or holds a professional qualification in communications or can demonstrate equivalent relevant experience
Proven experience in successfully shaping and delivering key messages to various audiences and meeting their individual needs
Ability to provide guidance on communication issues and develop strategies to support business objectives
Demonstrable excellent written communications skills
Video production and editing skills
Ability to produce accurate and effective content quickly and to deadlines
Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent attention to detail
Experience of Office 365
Desirable
Experience of writing content for a variety of communication channels (eg. intranet, video, Engage)
Relevant experience in internal communications
Sound knowledge of strategic corporate communications practices
Editorial Skills And/or Experience In Journalism
Experience of using AI to improve internal communications activities.
