Payroll Services Assistant. The Payroll Services department at Nottinghamshire County Council are recruiting for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team during an exciting time of change. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your payroll career where you will be fully trained in all aspects of payroll and transactional HR activities. While an understanding of Payroll would be desirable this is not essential if you have the right ‘can do’ attitude and administrative skills.
The job role will include actioning new starters, leavers and contractual variations in an accurate and timely manner, in line with the monthly deadlines. Other administration tasks will include the production of contracts, maternity administration and responding to general pay queries. You will also be the first point of contact for both telephone enquiries and correspondence, responding in an effective and efficient manner. Our customers include Nottinghamshire County Council departments, schools and academies, pensions and other external clients.
This role consists of hybrid working, however there will be an expectation that the post holder attends our current office base at County Hall, West Bridgford on a frequent basis as determined by the needs of the business.
Responsibilities
* Action new starters, leavers and contractual variations accurately and promptly in line with monthly deadlines.
* Produce contracts, manage maternity administration, and respond to general pay queries.
* Be the first point of contact for telephone enquiries and correspondence; respond effectively and efficiently.
* Engage with customers including Nottinghamshire County Council departments, schools and academies, pensions and other external clients.
* Support hybrid working arrangements with attendance at County Hall when required.
Qualifications & Skills
* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent; organized with good customer service skills.
* Positive and flexible approach to teamwork.
* Good communication, literacy and numeracy skills; proficient in Microsoft Office and other IT systems.
* Ability to meet deadlines, work logically and methodically, use initiative, and follow procedures with high accuracy.
* Understanding of Data Protection and confidentiality boundaries is essential.
