Overview
The heterogenous material integrated MEMS/NEMS-Photonics platform (HetMEPS) strives to develop next-generation secure optical communication systems, combining silicon photonics with advanced MEMS/NEMS technologies. The project will demonstrate novel photonic integrated circuits and tunable single-photon sources for quantum secure communication.
Responsibilities
* Develop a photonic circuit integrated nano-electromechanical system (NEMS) and optical NEMS devices for secure/quantum communication applications.
* Design, fabricate, and characterise integrated quantum photonics systems on chip.
* Work within the School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton, utilizing state-of-the-art cleanroom facilities.
* Collaborate with experts in nanomechanics and nanophotonics to deliver next‑generation photonic devices.
Qualifications
* PhD or equivalent professional qualifications in an experimental discipline.
* Experience in quantum photonic circuits, quantum correlation measurement, NEMS or optical NEMS, characterisation, and nanofabrication.
* Practical implementation skills in experimental nanotechnology.
