We’re looking for a Lead Systems Engineer to take a leading role in our Networks and Connectivity services, ensuring our infrastructure is secure, resilient and ready to support critical services. This is a key leadership position within IT, combining deep technical expertise with the opportunity to shape services, mentor engineers and influence future direction.
About the Role
As a Lead Systems Engineer – Networks, you’ll provide senior technical leadership across the organisation’s network and infrastructure estate, acting as a final escalation point for complex issues and ensuring high-performing, reliable services. You’ll manage and develop a team of Systems Engineers, coordinating workloads, driving service improvements and working closely with the Architecture Team to align operational delivery with strategic IT goals.
Responsibilities
* Leading the delivery, stability and continuous improvement of network and connectivity services, ensuring they are secure, resilient and fit for purpose
* Providing expert-level 3rd line support and acting as the senior escalation point for complex network and infrastructure incidents
* Managing and mentoring a team of Systems Engineers across 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support
* Coordinating workloads and priorities to consistently meet SLAs, KPIs and service targets
* Working closely with architects to ensure network services align with agreed standards and future direction
* Leading the technical delivery of infrastructure and network-related projects from planning through to transition into support
* Ensuring compliance with IT security policies, data protection requirements and industry standards
* Maintaining clear documentation, configuration records and operational procedures
* Building strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers and senior leaders
Qualifications
You’ll have a strong background in enterprise networking and infrastructure, with the confidence to lead both technically and through people. You’ll enjoy coaching others, improving services and working collaboratively across teams to deliver reliable IT services. Pay range and compensation package
Salary: £45,091 to £49,282 per annum
The role includes participation in an on-call rota and out-of-hours support for critical events when required.
