Overview
This role involves working within the Cardiology department to provide a range of complex cardiology investigations and produce detailed, evidence-based clinical reports. The post holder will perform a range of invasive and non-invasive cardiac investigations according to grade and within the scope of training. The role may suit a newly or recently qualified Cardiac Physiologist/PTP seeking a springboard to further develop their career. The post requires a flexible and patient-centred service, respecting patient privacy and dignity at all times, and compliance with Trust health and safety policies.
Responsibilities
* Carry out invasive and non-invasive cardiac investigations in line with training and grade, and report findings in clinically detailed reports.
* Work as part of the team to deliver a safe and equitable service, including participation in out-of-hours and weekend service as required.
* Liaise with patients (including those who may have communication difficulties) and their carers, explaining procedures and results as appropriate.
* Provide a courteous, prompt, and dignified service to all patients, including those who are acutely unwell or distressed.
* Promote the Trust’s core values in daily practice and ensure clinical safety standards are met when supervising rehabilitation sessions in line with service policies.
* Maintain all records related to the Cardiac Physiology Team in an organised and confidential manner in accordance with the Code of Conduct and relevant principles.
* Prepare clinical areas and maintain clinical equipment, reporting faults promptly to the line manager or service lead.
* Assist with daily and regular cleaning of equipment in line with infection prevention and control standards.
* Supervise assistants and students as necessary.
Requirements and Qualities
* Proven or developing competence as a Cardiac Physiologist/PTP with willingness to develop further in a busy cardiology environment.
* Ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues, and to provide clear explanations of procedures and results.
* Commitment to patient safety, professional conduct, and maintaining accurate records.
* Flexibility to participate in out-of-hours and weekend duties as required.
