Job Title: SEND Key Worker Location: Staffordshire (Hybrid Working Available) Contract Type: Temporary (Initial 3–6 Months) Pay Rate: £250–£300 per day (depending on experience) IR35 Status: Outside IR35 Job Overview: We are currently recruiting an experienced SEND Key Worker on behalf of a local authority in Staffordshire. This role plays a critical part in supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring that the voice of the child and their family is central to all planning and decision-making. Key Responsibilities: Act as a consistent point of contact for families, schools, and professionals throughout the Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessment and plan review processes. Coordinate multi-agency involvement, ensuring timely contributions and collaboration to deliver high-quality outcomes. Provide clear, compassionate communication with families, offering guidance and support through complex systems and procedures. Track and monitor progress of EHC assessments and annual reviews, escalating delays or concerns appropriately. Maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes and records in line with local and statutory guidance. Contribute to service improvement by identifying gaps, barriers, and opportunities in SEND provision. Requirements: Proven experience working within SEND services, ideally within a local authority or education setting. Strong knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a family-centred approach. Ability to work independently, prioritise caseloads and manage sensitive situations professionally. Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one. Desirable: Experience working with children and young people across a range of educational needs. Background in education, health, social care, or a related field.
