The team is involved in projects across the UK in sectors like Transmission, Distribution, offshore wind, and HVDC interconnectors. We are recruiting a Principal HV Cable Design Engineer to maintain our reputation for excellence.
Reporting to the HV Cable Specialist, you will work within our Energy Networks team. Our offices are based in Epsom, London, Birmingham, Leeds, and Glasgow, but the role is flexible and UK-wide.
Your Purpose
* Act as a cable engineer in multi-disciplinary project delivery.
* Deliver Concept design, FEED, feasibility, and Detailed design projects and bids.
* Ensure projects meet scope, budget, and timeline requirements.
* Produce or review HV cable aspects for various projects, including onshore, offshore export cables, and interconnectors.
* Participate in bids and tenders, producing HV cable technical offers.
* Attend design review and hazard review meetings, producing HV cable design packages.
* Visit sites, participate in FAT, SAT, and commissioning as needed.
* Maintain customer focus, identify client needs, and support business development.
* Engage in industry working groups such as CIGRE and IEEE, developing relationships.
What You Can Bring
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Chartered Engineer status through IET is desirable.
Essential Criteria
* Experience in HV cable design, manufacture, and testing for HVAC and HVDC projects.
* Knowledge of HV cable system design and ratings (CYMCAP).
* Understanding of IEC standards and CIGRE policies.
* Experience witnessing third-party cable activities.
* Experience with complex cable projects.
* Participation in industry working groups and technical committees.
* Willingness to travel as required.
