Our in-house Development department provides a unique opportunity to work within and across our cross-functional scrum teams towards iterations of software. You will work alongside a team of Developers, UX and Test Automation Engineers providing direction within all aspects of solution design and the software development life cycle.
The team creates software that supports customers, banking clients and staff members with anything from secure customer facing web apps and mobile apps to transaction processing systems. We are looking for individuals who have ambition and drive to push us forward in our journey to improve on our status as the premier provider of savings management in the UK.
As a Lead Developer, you’ll develop and support the software solutions delivered by Newcastle Strategic Solutions, part of the Newcastle Building Society Group. You’ll be responsible for developing and architecting high quality software solutions, whilst maintaining high standards of quality. Working as part of a wider product development / project team and sometimes working independently you will be required to analyse business requirements, design and specify program changes, code the solutions and provide implementation and post implementation support as required.

About You
We are looking for a Lead Developer with the ability to challenge and innovate current ways of working, contribute and take ownership for standards and provide technical direction. You will have experience of leading the direction of a software development team, producing technical design artifacts and a proven track record of delivering substantial goals and solutions. The role plays a big part in the Leadership of the department.
You will be able to work collaboratively within a cross-functional team, you will have a pro-active attitude to continuous improvement in our software, techniques, and processes.

7. Proven track record of delivery in the Microsoft stack e.g. .NET Core, C# & Azure
8. Proven experience leading technical solution design.
9. Proven ability to evaluate technologies and practices.
10. Proven ability to implement design principles and patterns.
