Milk Education is recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) role in a specialist SEN school in Hampshire, supporting children aged 4–16 with Autism and associated neurodivergent conditions. This role offers a unique opportunity for those with a genuine interest in Clinical Psychology, providing direct and meaningful experience working with some of the most vulnerable children in society.
If you are serious about a future in Clinical Psychology, neurodevelopment, or mental health, this role will allow you to explore your empathy, patience, and understanding, helping you qualify or disqualify the career path before committing to a master’s degree (MSc).
The Role
6. Support children aged 4–16 with Autism ranging from low to high support needs.
7. Work with pupils who have co-occurring neurodivergent conditions including ADHD, OCD, sensory processing issues, and social communication needs.
8. Help facilitate a structured, nurturing classroom environment to promote emotional and academic development.
9. Use therapeutic strategies to support behaviour, engagement, and emotional regulation.
10. Observe and shadow Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language, Drama, Music, and Art Therapy sessions.
11. Collaborate with therapists, SEN specialists, and teaching staff to implement personalised learning plans.
12. Support with emotional regulation and the development of coping strategies using applied psychology methods.
13. Provide personal care support when required (feeding, hygiene, mobility).
What We’re Looking For
14. Psychology graduates (or those looking to retrain in Clinical Psychology, Mental Health, or Therapeutic roles).
15. Aspiring professionals with a clear interest in Educational Psychology, Speech Therapy, or CAMHS-related services.
16. Calm, empathetic, and patient individuals with the ability to connect with neurodiverse pupils.
17. An analytical and reflective mindset with a genuine desire to understand Autism and developmental challenges.
18. A commitment to consistency—able to stay in the role for at least one academic year.
