Introduction
An experienced and motivated Consultant Psychiatrist is required to join the established multidisciplinary team at recently acquired Barnet Lane Clinic in Hertfordshire. Working 3 days per week.
The hospital is situated in a nice suburban area with a lot of garden space and easy access to A1, M25 and M1.

Barnet Lane clinic is a rehabilitation service for men and women who in future will be looking at developing a care pathway from acute through rehabilitation services. Both wards have multi-disciplinary teams, including input from Psychology and Occupational Therapy.
Service users are encouraged to individualise their own en-suite bedrooms in order for them to feel comfortable and at home. Ward facilities include a laundry, dining area, quiet room and communal living space to give the young people the opportunity to socialise with their peers and be as independent as possible in an environment where they do not feel isolated.
We work with tailored treatment programmes designed for the individual needs of each person. You will be working in a service that provides an evidence based and focused treatment programme.
Key Responsibilities
1. Review referrals and determine appropriateness for admission
2. Conduct Admission assessment and ensure effective management plans of all patients on the unit.
3. Conduct risk assessment and review regularly
4. Allocate specialist psychological treatments in line with individual needs.
5. Assess physical health - taking special responsibility for medical issues.
6. Supervising and directing the work of other staff who treat the patients.
7. Ensuring effective liaison with referring/community teams, specialists and Commissioners.
8. Facilitating regular CPA, professionals and family meetings
9. Act as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act.
10. To ensure the provision of medical cover to the wards at all times.
11. Cross-cover with the other Consultant for annual and study leave.
12. Take part in the On Call Consultant rota.
13. Involvement in quality, inspections and governance processes
14. Maintaining professional development, Annual Appraisals and Revalidation.
Requirements:
15. MB BS or medical qualification
16. Registered on the GMC Specialist Register (or equivalent) with a licence to practise.
17. Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
18. Excellent knowledge in speciality
19. Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
20. Make decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others.
21. Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
