Payroll Specialist – Temporary / Immediate Start
Location: High Wycombe, United Kingdom
I'm looking for a Payroll Specialist to join a leading multi-channel retailer on a temporary basis for an immediate start. You will be part of their in-house payroll team, within the People function, helping to deliver accurate and timely payrolls for over 1,700 permanent employees and up to 1,000 temporary store employees at peak.
What you’ll do
* Prepare and process UK store and Head Office payrolls, as well as several smaller overseas payrolls using Zellis HCM.
* Ensure payrolls are accurate, compliant with legislation, and submitted on time.
* Administer employee benefits, including pension auto‑enrolment, salary sacrifice schemes, and third‑party payments.
* Process hourly and salaried payrolls, including starters, leavers, and changes.
* Handle ad‑hoc and third‑party payments (e.g., court orders, bonuses).
* Support statutory processes, including year‑end payrolls, P60s, and other reporting requirements.
* Maintain payroll system administration, including pay element creation, tax calendars, and structural/parameter updates in Zellis HCM Cloud.
* Assist with analytical and payroll reporting via Zellis RRS and share KPI reports with the wider business.
* Complete monthly payroll reconciliations and ensure accurate reporting.
What they’re looking for
* A minimum of 3 years payroll experience with at least 2 years hands‑on responsibility for processing multiple payrolls.
* Good working knowledge of current payroll legislation.
* Experience working in a retail or hospitality environment with multiple sites an advantage.
* Excellent communication skills to liaise with colleagues across the business.
