GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant to join a specialist education setting. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and behavioural challenges.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff, leadership, and students to provide consistent, positive support, helping learners engage with their education, develop social and emotional skills, and achieve their potential. You will be part of a committed team that values empathy, structure, and proactive behaviour support strategies.
Key Responsibilities
* Support students in managing their behaviour and emotional regulation in line with school policies.
* Work one-to-one or in small groups to deliver targeted interventions.
* Assist teaching staff in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
* Promote positive relationships, restorative practices, and a supportive learning environment.
* Monitor and record student behaviour, progress, and incidents accurately.
* Contribute to team discussions, reviews, and planning for student support.
Requirements
* Experience working with children or young people in educational, care, or support settings (SEND experience desirable).
* Understanding of SEMH, ASC, ADHD, and associated behavioural needs.
* Knowledge of positive behaviour strategies, de-escalation techniques, and trauma-informed practice.
* Ability to work calmly, consistently, and empathetically in challenging situations.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
