Job details Posting date: 15 August 2025 Salary: £44,500 per year Hours: Full time Closing date: 14 September 2025 Location: New Haw, Addlestone Remote working: Hybrid - work remotely up to 2 days per week Role Overview: Responsible for animal science project delivery and capability leadership, focusing on monitoring and ensuring the welfare of animals such as cattle, sheep, pigs, horses, poultry, rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, and ferrets used in research. Design and lead relevant projects across various disease or commercial portfolios. Develop animal science capabilities and expertise, including the development and application of new technologies relevant to Animal Sciences at APHA. Engage in policy-relevant research across disease portfolios. Opportunities for further education are available. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in research and proactively seek opportunities to develop modern welfare assessment tools. They will contribute to the “3Rs” (reduction, refinement, replacement), especially refining experimental or veterinary procedures.
