About Our Client
This position is with a respected and established organisation within Biopharma the life science sector. The company is a medium-sized enterprise known for its innovative approach and commitment to excellence within its field, headquartered in Cambridge.
Job Description
The IP Director will join a thriving business in Cambridge and be the sole IP professional. Stepping to cover a period of absence, the IP Director role will allow established IP Directors to work in a fast paced and dynamic CDMO or provide an excellent step up to ambitious Patent Attorneys or IP Managers.Responsibilities will include:
 3. Supporting the company on all areas of IP.
 4. Developing and implementing strategies for protecting intellectual property rights, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
 5. Negotiating and drafting IP agreements, licenses, etc.
 6. Manage the patent and trademark portfolios. this will include drafting, filing & submission, and prosecuting patent and trademark applications.
 7. Be part of the decision making team to identify, agree and be part of the development of future areas of innovation and technical improvements,
 8. Work closely with the wider business to identify potential IP from innovation and technology development programmes.
 9. Develop and manage the IP budget.
 10. Staying abreast IP law developments.
The Successful Applicant
A successful IP Director should have:
 11. A strong and proven background in intellectual property law, ideally inhouse in biologics or bioconjugates (although Attorneys from private practice with strong Life Sciences client base are encouraged to apply)
 12. Professional qualifications in Patents as a Patent Attorney or a qualified Solicitor in England & Wales.
 13. Ideally hold a PhD
 14. Experience in managing IP portfolios and IP documentation.
 15. Knowledge of patent and trademark laws and procedures.
 16. Exposure to CDMOs would be advantageous.
 17. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
 18. A proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.
